Terry Schiavo

She lasted exactly as long as was estimated (14 days), and now the family Preist is saying he's shocked that America would allow something so horrible to happen. Shit, we've done a Hell of a lot worse than this. I was hoping the news channels would listen to South Park and maybe consider that she didn't want to be seen like this on (inter)national TV.

Thankfully, Michael Schiavo was there when she passed away. His family has stated that they (unlike the Schindler family) want this to be a private matter, and are refusing to do interviews. Michael has also been living at the hospice since the 15th of March, apparently. And the Schindlers are saying that Michael wasn't there when she died...oy! George W. Bush is going to give a statement in an hour or so. Also, CNN has been showing some depressing before and after pictures of her. They've got the Schindler famiily lawyer on, bashing Michael, and saying that there might have been TOO LITTLE MEDIA COVERAGE on this.

I'm shocked at how thorough an institution's brainwashing can be.

I looked at the bottom right of Firefox and it said, "RIP_Terri" so I knew before I checked the thread.

I was sort of indifferent to the whole thing but I sort of stand where Arjue was standing earlier in the thread. Things like this are just hard to make a desicion on so I figured I'd just watch the whole thing from the sidelines.

It's natural for a parent, mothers especially, to hang onto their children. There's nothing reasonable about it, but no parents want to see their child die before them. Atleast when she's brain dead there's something tangible to love.

For us on the outside we see it differently, but when it's your own it's probably super hard to let go. To the point of impossibility.

It probably won't even be about her dying. I can see it opening with long, boring shots of her laying in bed, and then we get to see the memories of her dissolve in life, ending in a climactic barf scene that rivals the one seen in Team America: World Police. Infact, the movie will be so hyped it will be translated in to a feature epic.

It will star Nicolas Cage as the tired, worn out husband and Julia Roberts as the party girl turned vegetable. Emmy awards will be given to both of them, even though 3/4s of the movie Roberts is simply lying in a bed, motionless.
