You know what the truly ironic thing is?

The law that lets them do this (the only grace the family would have if they object is to find another facility willing to take the patient within ten days of receiving the notifaction) was signed into law by then-governor George W. Bush.

Apparently, a Florida doctor assigned by Jeb has magically discovered that she isn't in fact in a vegetative state, she's just "minimally concious". Thank goodness he cleared THAT up.

Aye, but doesn't the bioethics commity represent almost every hostpital in that area? I'm sure there are people stupid enough to belive that if St. Lukes can't save their kids life some other hospital could, but if there was such a place that would take that person - that hostpital would simply be mining the grieving parent/guardian for money.

Now, the supreme court has rejected the family's appeal. In a fun note, a woman on Fox News Channel was on-air saying that she'd try to get Terry food and water by sneaking in the hospital "peacefully". It's always helpful to announce these things on national TV, with a graphic featuring your name under your face.

Terry's brother appeared on...something today and said that Terry's brain damage MIGHT have been caused by domestic abuse. What a classy move. Now, the family is going to place their hope on JEB BUSH making her a ward of the state. This thing is better than reality TV.

The most disturbing aspect of this whole thing to me is that her cerebral cortex is spinal fluid now. I mean, the part of her brain that handles thought and conscious action is GONE. It's cruel keeping her alive. If we lived in a perfect world they'd be allowed to inject her with drugs so she'd die peacefully instead of just having to let her starve to death.

These idiots that think she can be "rehabilitated" from this are just as bad as the savages in Africa that think you can cure AIDS by fucking virgins.

If he can't prove it then statements like that might be actionable. But the jerkoff's just grabbing at straws by saying things like that.

Yeah, he was trying to justify why her heart suddenly stopped, saying that they had "no idea" how it happened. Hearing the spin the family (and their blind supporters) are putting on this is funny though, as they're basically stating that the husband is killing her. The brother's statement SHOULD be actionable, but he probably chose his words carefully enough to avoid being sued. Plus, I doubt the husband would want to sue the family, he likely wants all of this shit over with.

I hope Mario Andretti shows up at her funeral.

Just let her go, her life sucks being a vegetable, let her die with some dignity and quietly without trying to spare her for a life of doing absolutely nothing, shes better off.
