hmm seems there is a lot of conflicting reports on which emulators work the best on a firmware version 1.50
all I know is TYL latest SNES emulator is hands down the best for SNES

I thought it would be easy to find the best emulator for each system but there seems to be tons of them & none of the sites I been to give comparisons between the emulators

so anybody who tried these emus, know which is the fastest/best hands down:

-Gameboy:
RIN GameBoy/GameBoy Color emulator
108rin v1.32n1.2
Gameboy/Gameboy Color emulator v2.0 (homer)

-Genesis:
Dgen v1.20
PSP Genesis v0.18c

-NeoGeoCD:
NeoCD PSP v0.9.1 (unofficial) of NeoCD PSP v0.5
ngPsp v1.3.1

-MSX:
fMX062b plus
HITBIT MSX Emulator v0.05

-NES:
Nes Emulator v0.5
Unofficial NesterJ NES v1.07

Games requiring 2.0 like GTA will be able to be played on 1.50. I havent tried it myself but getting the Firmware Launcher setup with 2.0 is a hassle for me right now. I dont know if I'm doing something wrong or what. You can find new ISOs with GTA already pre-modified for 1.50

GB - Newest one for Homer is like 3.1
Genesis - Both work great
Neo Geo - NeoCD; ngPsp is slow and not 100%
MSX - ?
NES - Nester J the official one is 100%. All other unofficial are just minor changes

hey thanks for the tips, I'll try those out
well I tried the DGEN emu & it was so-so

it seems games like the Sonic games, Gunstar Heroes, Toe Jam & Earl 2 etc... don't run at full speed unless the sound is completely turned off

there was a lot of other games that ran well past 60fps with full sound & no frameskip so that was great to play

I'll try out PSPGenesis next to see how it compares

BTW Bandit, when I went to play DGEN & went to the icon to load it in my PSP, there was another icon below it that said "Corrupted data" or something like that

when I deleted it, it also deleted all my genesis games

is it normal to have that ugly :yuck: "Corrupt Data Icon" when playing homebrew games?

Yea, dont delete that corrupted data icon. You can hide that nasty icon. If you're using a program such as PSP Brew or SeiPSPTool, etc. to load eboots to your PSP, they have an option to hide corrupted icon. On the first post, there are links to programs that hide the icon (if they even still work). There might be less than a handful of programs that dont work with this icon hiding, but all emulators shouldnt be affected.

As for Genesis, my bad. I just checked and I used PSPGenesis not DGEN.

After some reading and with the help of the link (which I should of checked first), I got GTA loading on 1.50.

Download the pack that has all the files, extract, place all files in appropriate folders on the MS and than just get a GTA ISO that is already pre-modded to work with this method. Just make sure to set the UMD Emulator to start as SYSTEM MENU instead of COPY or LOAD and select the ISO. SYSTEM MENU will bring you back to the XMB on the PSP and than just select the Game Loader and you're done

thanks again, that worked in getting rid of the corrupted icons

I also tried PSPgen, seems like some games run better on one emulator then the other
still it doesn't seem anything will run full speed, no frameskip & full sound


btw have any idea on what AutoSRAM & Simulated 50Hz mean?

This goes for about all emulators. I guess that some games require more power/whatnots than the others

You can find instructions on how to downgrade by searching on google. There are sites that made specific tutorials for it with pictures, so you cant go wrong.

You have two ways. If you have a game that requires you to update to 2.0, you can do it from there. If not, just download the upgrade file from the website

DO NOT use the upgrade from the link above as it will probably upgrade you to 2.6.

Awesome, I got it figured out. Now I have 1 PSP for PSP games and another for old homebrew shit! Sweet. (I got a PSP cheap)

Nice. I got best of both worlds. I'm still at 1.5 and playing games such as GTA, SOCOM, MLB 06, etc. Trying to get Exit and Initial D to work.

Since you upgraded to 2.0, you can still play homebrew by using Fanjitas eLoader.
