I am fully aware of that option, Haoh and frankly I don't care for it. I never appreciated when players did it to me and I am certainly not goign to start following down that path.

Playing a ranked game isn't THAT big of a deal, but I think it's stupid EA chose to restrict the multiplayer sessions on unranked matches only.

No worries, I was too busy focusing on the career mode. Once I am done with it, I'll be devoting all my time exclusively to online sessions.

marwan: there are plenty of other games out other than sport games that you can play to boost GS if you're that concerned about where you currently stand.

I am a trademark night owl, so yeah -- I am always up late. Maybe we'll play tonight -- I really want to finish up the career mode and be done with it.

What the fuck is "ELO" and how can I finish 4th in a race and watch my world ranking drop from 9000 to 24000 in one shot?

I forget what it stands for, but basically it's a ranking system designed to better match players with worthy adversaries. For all intents and purposes, it works great for those who rely on the Optimatch feature.

There's some mathematical crap involved too that I haven't bothered sitting down to figure out. In the case of your rank dropping, a big part of that was due to the fact you came in 4th. No offense, but that's sucky. You're ultimately going to get pissed off if you can't place within the top 3 and end up losing to people who have substantially lower ranks in the leaderboards.

Another factor that can affect you is when one or more players drop from the game. For whatever reasons, your rank tends to dip a bit and I've experienced this on several occassions. (Once I was ranked 233 when it happened and I dropped to 577, despite the fact I came in first)


By the way -- I fully completed the career mode, so expect to see me exclusively playing online now more often. Let me know if you need help with any of the single-player challenges!

Heh, that doesn't necessarily mean they were "better" than you either. After all, you did say you were ranked 9000. The game has been out for nearly 3 weeks now -- so their ranks are likely because they've been playing more than you have.

Anyways, don't focus too much on the World Ranking, lest you'll just become jaded and bitter. ELO's ranking system is somewhat broken and a majority of players have discovered this early on. Just have fun racing.

Yeah, I wouldn't really care other than the fact that I couldn't figure out why I dropped 16,000 after one mediocre race. :P
