Best Buy was clearly in the wrong and they should not be let off for this. It's more than just pain & suffering- it is definitely a defamation of character as Klonoa said.

That said, in this man's position I would not be ready to accept an apology- and if the store managers offered me any favors they'd be frankly told to fuck theirselves.
