That sounds pretty good, actually... but I can't even begin to imagine the explanation of how he DIDN'T DIE. Did Batman leave after Robin was declared dead, but then missed it when they moved him to a better hospital, where he was later declared alive?

Yeah, he did. Jason Todd was still alive (in all his terribly-drawn, purple-skied, Jim Aparo glory) when Batman got to him, and then he died in his arms. I think he left the body with paramedics, along with JT's mom, and then took off after the Joker. I may be wrong about that.

Basically for some reason, DC lets Winnick do whatever the hell he wants. I think they are under the impression that people give a shit he was on The Real World, and like the fact that people end up being gay and have AIDS.

Yeah I quite liked the Red Hood as Jason Todd thing. It's a bit ironic since it was Joker's former identity.

As to how he would be back after being seemingly dead, I think they are going to go with Ra's Al Ghul dumping him in the Lazerous pit to revive him or something but who knows?

Judd and the DC guys say that his revival and his first meeting with Batman (as he finds out Red Hood's identity) will be brought up in the future and he plays a part in the Infinite Crisis saga somehow.

oh, sorry.. hard to tell online sometimes :) I started reading it again at Hush (I had only got back into comics a couple months before that), and it was good despite the crap cop-out ending.

If anyone's buying comics this week, don't miss Warren Ellis' new book, Desolation Jones. It's worth it for these two pages alone:

The two main characters walk into a porn shop.

Robina: Filthy has always been subtle.

Jones: Okay.

Jones to doorman: Tell Filthy that Jones needs to talk.

Filthy Sanchez: Arthur, bring Jones through.

The characters walk into the back room, and see Filthy, a dominatrix, and Wood, a musclebound gimp, both watching porn.

Filthy Sanchez: Jones, watch bukkake with me as we talk.

Jones: I'd rather just talk and leave, Filthy.

Filthy: Jones, Jones. Everything goes better with bukkake.

Jones: How about antique German porno from 1944?

Filthy: What?

Jones: My client has had some very rare film erotica stolen. The opportunities for fencing it are kind of limited.

Filthy: What is it, Jones?

Ellis is a weird dude, that's for sure. Is this another one of those one shot stories, or is it a mini/ongoing?

EDIT: If anyone else is curious why Winnick annoys me a ton, look a few issues back at The Outsiders... special guest JOHN WALSH. That's right, they were looking for a missing child, so Nightwing got the idea to contact America's Most Wanted for help. I really wish I was making this up. In 10 years I'll look back and laugh, but right now it just annoys me.
