Maybe it has something to do with him living down South but $6.50 an hour for landscaping? That pays quite well around here and pays well with every other place in the US I've been to for an extended period of time and am semi-familiar with. Not great but usually at least $10/hr I believe.Quote:

Example. You know how just about everyone in this day and age has a car given to them when they turn 16 and can drive? Not me. I'm 22 and I have yet to have a car given to me. I got to drive my mother’s car, and I got to be reminded ever fucking day who that car belonged to. BUT I and my dad are working on something for me to drive. Its a 1986 Military Blazer. No doors, no AC, and no radio. Don't get me wrong, I haven't had it bad, but I haven't been spoiled either.
P.S. no clever post on how I should get a real job. The job market here sucks. I have to drive 50 minutes just to get new guitar strings. I'm not going to drive that far for a job while in college for a tech related major. Seriously, I don't want nor need your advice on this, stfu. Really, stfu.
Does he pay you off the books? If he is, then $6.50 an hour is more like $8.50 after taxes.

Bush says Amnesty report 'absurd'
US President George Bush has dismissed as "absurd" an Amnesty International report that said the US was setting back the cause of human rights.
The human rights group described the US Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba as "the gulag of our time".
There have been allegations that guards at the camp had desecrated the Koran, prompting protests in Muslim countries.
But Mr Bush said on Tuesday: "The United States is a country that promotes freedom around the world."
"I'm aware of the Amnesty International report and it's absurd, it's an absurd allegation," the president said during a press conference in the Rose Garden of the White House.
Mr Bush said that accusations against Americans were "fully investigated in a transparent way".
"In terms of the detainees, we've had thousands of people detained, we've investigated every single complaint," he said.
'Outrageous'
The Amnesty report has already provoked a robust reaction from the US top military officer General Richard Myers and Vice President Dick Cheney.
"I think the fact of the matter is the United States has done more to advance the cause of freedom, has liberated more people from tyranny over the course of the 20th century and up to the present day than any other nation in the history of the world," said the vice president.
The report from the London-based human rights group followed allegations made by former detainees at Guantanamo Bay and other US facilities across the world.
Mr Bush said its accusations therefore stemmed from "people who hate America, people that have been trained in some instances to disassemble, that means not tell the truth".
But Amnesty hit back. Executive director William Schulz said: "What is 'absurd' is President Bush's attempt to deny the deliberate policies of his administration."
"What is 'absurd' and indeed outrageous is the Bush administration's failure to undertake a full independent investigation."
I think its funny that people accuse Guantanamo Bay of being a gulag, when the US provides prisoners with the Koran, Clerics (one of which was found to be spying), and so forth. Amnesty International and the like are incensed that these people are not being granted POW status under the Geneva Convention, but conveniently forget that theyre not soldiers from a country that signed the Geneva Convention, thats what makes this current conflict different from WW2 or Vietnam or whatever. Thats what is really absurd. Im not giving the military a free pass at torture but what I am saying is that some level-headedness is needed. And it is a well known fact that al-Qaeda trains its "soldiers" to make up false accusations against its captors with the purpose of getting people like the ACLU, Amnesty International, and so forth on their side. They tell their soldiers what to tell the investigators, courts, media, etc. They prey on the West's objectivism and compassion, this is a fact.

Here's the spirit of the accord: two uniformed armies enter battle, one wins, and the other loses. The winners take POWs from the losing side, and treat them fairly until the conflict is done. Its a mutual thing, both sides are supposed to know they have that protection.Quote:

Here's not the spirit of the accord: one uniformed army and one group of people dressed in civilian clothes with no attachment to a country enter battle. The latter group waves white flags then blows themselves up, target innocent civilians with car bombs, beheads innocent hostages on camera while praising their God, and so forth. But the latter group still expects to be treated as a regular, uniformed soldier of a country.
Woah, theyre not even close! Realize it, dude. Im all for the Geneva Convention, dont act like I want to undermine it, but it doesnt apply to whats going on now. The terrorists/insurgents/suicide bombers sure as shit aint abiding by them when they chop off some innocent Japanese dude's head, blows up a Red Cross building, or drives a car bomb into a crowded market, and theyre relying on the fact that many Westerners expect the terrorists to get that Geneva protection no matter what they do (and the terrorists see this as a weakness, to be exploited).
And those things should be investigated and dealt with accordingly. But Im not buying that a female soldier unbuttoning her blouse in front of a Muslim detainee is the same as a dude chopping off innocent people's heads. Im not buying it, at all.Quote:
