The Genki Thread
The board won't let me respond to the Crouching Tiger thread but I'm definitely looking forward to it since Genki is (usually) a good developer.
Super Magnetic Neo is fun as are their Tokyo racing games. And Virtua Fighter 3 was a decent port considering it was the first DC game.
I still haven't played a Kileak game but I heard they sucked anyway.
Your thoughts on Genki?

Their games generally seem to be slightly to somewhat above average. Not a very distinctive developer, IMO. I didn't know they were responsible for Kileak. Not good. : )
Their upcoming Phantom Crash game for Xbox seems fairly fun.

Thank you, Genki, for screwing over my VF3tb.
Heh, okay, so that's VERY harsh.
I really don't care about the visuals, they're fine. I just really wish they could've kept the gameplay identicle.
Hell, if VF2 and VF3 weren't rushed, the ports could've been much better. Well, maybe. I've never seen a perfect Model 3 - Dreamcast port. No, not even VOOT is perfect.
Ah well. At least the Genki ports are better than the Virtual On Saturn port.
*shudder*
"People can still love Saturn VOOM, just not in the same way. The Saturn VOOM is like crack, except you don't get the high."

Genki is fine in my book. They're titles have not always been the most fun ever, but they are usually pretty solid. VF3tb, given how rushed it was, came out ok. Super Magnetic Neo was a a great title IMO. One thing about Genki, they come up with pretty distinctive art and character designs -- going back to Kileak the Blood, and if anyone remembers, Burning Soldier for 3DO (one of my favorite titles for that system). I have fairly high expectations for Phantom Crash... we'll see.

I've seen two movies of Phantom Crash and while the visuals are honestly pretty poor for the Xbox, the game still looks like a lot of fun, and the music is just plain funky. :)

I think that Super Magnetic Neo and Shotoku Battle are both excellent games. They're unique, fun, and look great. So, I based on my experience with Genki... I'd happily give them my seal of approval. :)
