Just got my copy of Cyber-Lip...

Yes, it wants to be Contra. Let's get that out of the way right now.


Ahem, now then. Let us look at the game itself.

I found it to be quite enjoyable. There's plenty of action, and the weapons, although pretty standard fare, are powerful enough. The graphics still hold up, but I found the music to be so-so. There's lots of voice, but nothing to write home about.

I think the thing I've liked most so far is the ability to choose paths towards the end. I don't know if they all lead the same levels (that would really suck). I'll have to go back and choose the other directions to see.

All in all, I really like Cyber-Lip. I have ever since I first played it in the arcades way back when. I've yet another reason to love my AES. :)

I haven't played it in years but I liked it. It's definitely not the best game of its kind but it's a good action game.

Cyber Lip rocked, and there's nothing wrong with making a Contra-esque game for your system if Konami's not going to give you the real thing. CL laid the foundation for the Metal Slug series, and was one of the great early Neo Geo games (along with Magician Lord, 'Nam 75, Ninja Combat and Baseball Stars.)
