Ideal game packaging

My vision of the ideal game packaging...

Because I hate jewel cases (Always breaking [because of other people], getting scratched... bah! Junk.)


I have been inspired by NGPC clamshells and DVD cases... By combining both, the ideal packaging medium would be created...

Cut a DVD box in half so it is the size of a jewel case... Make it a tab bit wider (but not quite as wide as a NGPC clamshell)...

Make it nice and sturdy like a NGPC clamshell (thick reinforcement)... Viola. This case would have a sleeve for an insert just like a DVD case and the manual would be tucked inside just like the manuals in a NPGC case (or a Genesis cart box, for that matter...)

It should snap shut like a clamshell (or, yet again, like a Genesis cart box)... None of that DVD box-esque push, pull apart cheapy feel...


Boom. There you go.


(Did I mention I love NGPC clamshells?)

Well, since the perfect storage medium already exists, I have no complaints (other than bring it to the US!)

Import GC titles.

I have no experience with them. How different from the US cases are they? One thing I don't like about them is the too-big (height-wise) size...

Oh god! Night and day!

Cut off a quarter of the top of a DVD case, then do the same to the side, and you have the approximate size of a import GC box.

All the ones I own have a slipcase as well. There's a little bar that the instructions go under (very similar to an NGPC clam-shell). There's room on the other side for the disk (or 2! in Biohazard's case), and a memory card above it.

Did I mention they're clear? :cool:

Does the sleeve on import GC games fit around the entire case, or inside like DVD cases?

I like the DVD cases used for the PS2, Gamecube, and X-box. While the Japanese case looks nice, it looks more like a game rental case and cheaper than the DVD case.

Oh my God! That's what we need, that's what I've been complaining about for the GC boxes ever since it was announced they'd be in DVD cases! And they aren't doing it over here! Bastards! Those things so fit the games better then the giant DVD cases we have, they're way too big and get in the way. If it wasn't for Nyko's little mini-DVD storage case, I'm not sure what I'd do with those discs.
