I have an opportunity to buy a Laseractive in excellent/mint condition. It would also include the Sega pack (no controller), the NEC pack (plus the controller), the Laseractive remote and one LD game (Manhattan Requiem) for abotu $500. Is it really worth it? I know this is a hard system to collect for, yet oddly enough I found at least 4 games I'm interested in on the system. Any opinions on it?

500 bucks? No. And these things breakdown very easily. I've gone through 3 myself (seriously). The PC Engine pac is the only thing that MIGHT be worth spending 500 bucks on the package for...but the laseractive and the sega pac I wouldn't call as rare as people make it out to be.
See if you can talk down the price of the system and get it without the sega pac. If you can, I will give you my Sega pac (as long as you pay shipping).
I don't know if anyone can say whether or not it's worth it, but I'd do it. I've wanted one for years, I had a weird obsession with it seeing one in Gamepro as a kid. At least if I finally scammed one I could watch the one laserdisc I own. Difficult to collect for, yeah, but if collecting is your thing, I imagine it'd be a really nice piece to have.
That's part of the reason I could never justify seeking one out, the collecting thing isn't really for me anymore, and I've found it difficult to get rid of the stuff I don't want anymore and make any sort of amount of money whatsoever. From what I understand, though, outside of the couple exclusive games there were and serving as an interesting conversation piece, owning one is pretty pointless if you have a PCE and a Genesis anyway. So I guess it's for you to decide whether or not the novelty value would make dropping $500 on such an oddity worthwhile. I mean, if the thing plays Sega CD games and Super CD games (I don't know if it does or doesn't, and now I'm kind of curious), and you don't have the hardware to do that otherwise, it could be a pretty cool investment, but otherwise... yeah.

I like it and I don't. I have a ton of laserdiscs now, but find flipping/changing to be a pain in the ass, and with DVD as cheap as it is, I've bought most of what I had on LD as DVD anyway. The only saving grace is the Star Wars trilogy.
I don't have any games for it, and probably never will. I just don't have the desire to track them down/ pay for them once they are found.
I remember a few years ago some online company was dumping the games for $5 a pop.
Wish I took advantage of the offer then.
I don't really use the Sega pak. I find it stupid to put the wear on the machine, and just use a regular Sega CD instead.
Also already have a Duo, so I don't feel the need to pay for a Turbo pak.
It's a nice conversation piece, but if there is anything else in the world that that $500 could be better spent on, I'd do that instead.
