To be honest I have completely lost faith in Rare. After the bomb that Conkers Port I really doubt they still have the magic.

There's an interview of Itagaki in the July issue of Play. At the very end of the interview, John Inata pretty much confirms a new Rygar.

Wait, you were expecting more from a game that ported an N64 game and got rid of the multiplayer aspect that made it good?

I think that NG is good enough to warrant him some respect even if you are right (which I don't think you are).

I give him credit for one good game, but every company in the world has atleast one good game. He needs to put out more unique, fresh games instead of sequels to his one big franchise and remakes of old school games (however good they may turn out) before he can talk shit and be taken seriously.
