Except that since PGR2, the whole kudos scoring mechanic has been made completely secondary. You don't have to hit any kudos targets in those games to move on (with the exception of the Kudos Challenges, which is the whole point of those events) and you get more than enough from just driving well.Quote:

RR6 and PGR3 stand together as the best racers of the gen to me, for different reasons. RR6 is the best arcade-style, no-nonsense racing available, and PGR3 offers the most immersive driving experience (in-car view being absolutely mandatory). I've put a massive amount of time into both, and they more than justified their price tag.
I've never found the kudos system to be fun, despite having a long-term love/hate relationship with MSR. It just seemed like work, and the racing itself has never been quite good enough to make it worth the effort.
edit: I can't play the in-car viewpoint thanks to motion sickness.
RR6 just seems so dull. I've played through the first twelve races or so, and it just doesn't seem exiting to me. I haven't even tried for any achievements yet, as it just doesn't interest me enough. PGR3 has many more modes of play and I like the online modes and track editor.
I'll give it another go, but unless it picks up soon, it will remain on my shelf.

I'm with this motherfucker. I paid full price for both upon launch don't regret it even as I could now get them both for less than I paid for each. These are pretty much the only two series of racers that I envision buying. The PGR/MSR style is as close to sim racing as I want to get. There will be no Forzas of GTs for me. RR provides the pure arcade racing rush that I ask for; I became tired of Burnout after 2 and never saw the big deal about the NFS games. The only others I could see also getting into this mix is if one of the classic Sega racers gets a next-gen release, or if a really, really good Formula One racer comes out.Quote:
