Basically, a tube people can suck dirty water through that will purify it right at that moment, it's cheap and if mass produced charities plan to give it to people in third world countries where Water borne illness consists of some of their biggest problems.
I'd buy one for this time of year in Texas. Man the heat makes this water taste like ass.

I think its a rather honest question. But then you can get a pretty easy response: money.
Britta and Pur and all of those other companies that make tap-water filters dont care about making a more effecient product. Theyre making big bucks right now, so if it aint broke why fix it?
Though I am surprised that this thing could last a person an entire year.
