Anyone who doesn't understand Alpha 3's popularity is being naive. Casual gamers love huge fucking rosters, and they always bitch about such and such character not being in the game, even if he's been killed or not born yet in the story continuity. SF3 was beautiful for the hardcore gamers, but alienated all the casual fans. Alpha 3 was squarely targeted at the casual/nostaligic SF fan and for them it was a wet dream. This seems to continue that tradition.
It's also not really a bad game or anything. It was cool for what it was.
It's Double Upper, actually. Like SFZ3 Upper, except, uh, double. I'd put money on it not being online, either, and even if it was, it doesn't make the package any more attractive.Quote:

In all the SF4 speculation, people are dreaming about SF3 quality animation on high res sprites, and in reality Capcom gives us SFA3 on PSP, except with more recycled sprites. I mean, shit, Ingrid's only been in one game so far, they're slacking.Quote:

Maki I can sort of understand, Cody and Guy are there. Eagle, sure, Birdie's there. Yun? Ingrid? I'm sure there's even more characters that don't belong. The PS and DC versions were full of characters the arcade version didn't have or need anyway. We were already starting with a game engine that was full of unnecessary changes and systems, so why not just keep packing them in there?Quote:

Cammy was only in the console port, and could only be used in versus mode.Quote:

That goes for the rest of the Alpha series. With such play features as Negative Edge, midair blocking, chain combos, variable combos, simple Alpha Counters, abusable VS-like juggles, etc., the series barely has anything in common with the smart, precise, no-nonsense gameplay seen in SSFIIT or 3rd Strike. Alpha series is a Street Fighter game in name only, as far as I'm concerned.Quote:
