It may have useful applications in more advanced maths, I don't know, but teaching that to kids is just pointless.

Anything that makes complex concepts easier for the masses to understand is a good thing in my book.

If you are posting in this thread to let us know you understand Trig without this new info, great for you. Move on.
We teach kids to memorize multiplication tables LONG before they truly understand what multiplication really means and how to do it for numbers you didn't memorize. IF this new approach can get people a functional understanding of what to do, then it is for the best.
