This Month's Haul - October 2005

I would pipe in with the mac love, but I'm scared Rhydant is going to call me a mac yuppie again.

I will say, however, that I've known my whole life that Mac's are superior in every way, shape and form in terms of computing. For 80% of the worlds population, I'd wadger a mac would be the smartest purchase they could ever make. It just... works.

It depends. The OS is clearly better in just about every respect, but if compatibility is a major issue then it probably isn't the best choice. Windows is like the PS2... clunky and weaker than the competition, but many times it's what you're stuck with if you want a certain product. I'd never want a Mac as my only machine, but I'm going to be buying one for school due to the superior film editing programs available.

Whenever I use a Mac and I go to maximize a window I want to kill somebody.

I am being pretty general. I'm just saying that for... I would say 95% of the people I know, a mac would be absolutely perfect. They surf the web, check their e-mail, instant message and check their blog (Hell-oh-ell). For these things alone, a mac would be more than suitable for their needs.

If your talking that type of general usage, a PC would be just as suitable to do those types of things. The rest is left upto general preference of the OS.

You know, OSX has a built-in spellchecker. There's like no excuse for typos.

After 2 weeks I'm really enjoying my iBook but it's a shame that I get spinning beach-balls right out of the box. I was going to max out the ram anyway but come on now.

I originally wanted a G5 iMac, but I've come to realize that I don't need all that power, and I still don't enjoy the whole "Your computer is one with the monitor" deal so when the G5's are outdated, you just dump the whole thing.

And I'm not exactly fond of spending a lot of money on a computer these days. If it can run Photoshop well, we're all good.
