Got the game and played a bit. It's definitely an old fashioned Nintendo platformer which is a good thing. It feels to me sort of like a combination of various past Mario games to me, especially Yoshi's Island and playing as Peach in SMB2. I doubt I'll rank it quite as high as the best Mario games but so far it's great.
I don't want any more portable systems but this game may be a problem. Looks pretty damn good.

At the moment, the DS is reminding me of the Dreamcast. A bunch of quirky games I'd probably never think of playing otherwise are coming out and they're all so well made that it's hard to resist. The last few months have been a hell of a ride for the thing... I really haven't been this enthused about a system in ages.
And yes, I was one of the people mocking Nintendo before they launched it, and slightly after (Mario 64 is their killer app at launch?!). It's nice to be proven wrong so thoroughly.
