I've waited for this day for years, after blockbuster has pissed me off numerous times in the past, their day has come. Hmm I wonder if this means we'll be having some crazy video game sales soon?

Liquidation sales would be a'ight.
The company has been hammered by the loss of revenue from eliminating late fees, competition from online retailers such as NetFlix, and the growth of DVD sales through mass merchants such as Wal-Mart and Best Buy.
How about not charging 4-5 dollars to rent your shitty movies? Videogames are like 7 dollars to rent now too.
Their used game prices suck too.
$8 to rent a current gen game for a week, I rented Battlefront II from them the other day. Fuck them for those high prices. I got a shitload of 50 cent SNES, Genesis, and even PlayStation games from them years ago, so they've served their purpose to me.
They failed to mention buyouts of Hollywood video, or at least an attempt to. Someone forget to check out their bank account, before offering such a large amount of cash?

I figured this news would come around the pike sooner or later. They put Hollywood Video (my fav vid store at the time) out of business in my area.
But BB shouldn't be surprised.
1.) No late fees
2.) $8.51 to rent a game
3.) $4/$5 to rent a movie, and they don't get that many copies.
..and Jeremy is correct, they served their purpose with all those Blockbuster Sales from years ago.
I'm always amazed how terribly run some companies are. How do you go backrupt when
a. You don't need to restock old items
b. You make your money back on a dvd after 3 rentals, and then sell it for what you bought it for when it becomes less popular
c. Employ almost everyone at minimum wage
d. Everything from rentals to the candy they sell has high profit margins
I got scared off from shopping there after seeing how much they charge for everything. I've got too much good sense for finding deals elsewhere, so BB never applied to my interests.
