That's why I never messed around with that stuff. I know way too many people that modded their systems and it ended up crapping out on them. That's the kind of luck I have too, and I don't feel like shelling out another $161.61.

As far as the whole modchip thing goes, it does seem like the best way to go. In retrospect, I should've done it, but PS2 modchips weren't the most friendly at the time.

I don't remember the name either, but it did not sound nearly as cool. It had to do with writting japanese characters or something, something with words rather than music.

Also, is there any website dedicated to PSOne/PS2 import games? I have to imagine there is more quality stuff for it than seems to be mentioned. But since it was never as easy to mod as like the Saturn and DC no one seems to have documented every single japanese release like those two consoles.

i've always wanted reviews of import games myself but havn't had any luck either.

I'm gonna check out my local import store today and see what the deal is. I hate doing this though because he doesn't focus on games, so he keeps a very small selection of newer, expensive games. He says he can order any game, so I guess I'll challenge him to that.

If you're into music games, definitely look into Beatmania. It's an awesome series.

Went to the local import store and picked up Naruto: Narutimetto Hero 2. My friends and I are loving it so far, and lost of stuff to unlock. Right now it's the perfect side for Dragon Quest VIII. Any of you people a fan of it?

I've had three PS2s stacked on top of each other for about a year or two and they've had no problems.

Mojib-Ribbon. It did come out but since you have to place words into sentences or construct sentences (something like that) I heard it was pretty unfriendly for English-only speakers. No clue if you read/speak Japanese or whatever but fyi.

I played the first one and it was pretty good.

Also, another vote for Beatmania.

Make that a third vote. It's expensive as all hell, and I don't play it quite like I used to, but I got a hell of a lot out of that series. Beatmania IIDX to be a specific jerk and all that.

Any special peripherals I should keep my eye open for?
