Lady in the Water

I know he's one of those directors where theres absolutely no middle ground, you either love him or hate him, but I'm a big fan of his work and this trailer caught my interest.

Maybe the twist will be that water is allergic to her.

I like how the reflection of the top of the door looks just like an eyeball in the pool.

Why on earth would you see this when you could go see Wolf Creek, which is most likely better shot, better acted and scarier. Fuck this guy and his lame predictable ass.

They don't sound terribly similar.

Say what you will about M. Night Shyamalan (I can't believe nobody has made the incredibly lame Shamalamadingdong joke yet), but his movies are very, very good. He takes an extraordinary devise and builds around it remarkably well, but sometimes I wish he'd forget the "twist" gimmick and just shoot a straight movie. The twist can be there is no twist.

This movie sounds like it has no style and startles people with loud noises and quick pop-ins by horrible looking creatures or devious people. M. Night builds suspense through acting and direction and he's good at it. I don't see how you can compare the two, given that the description of this movie makes it sound like a slasher.

When I was watching the teaser trailer in the theatre I was curious, then when M.Night's name came up, I, and several other people in the room began to scoff and groan. I'm skeptical, but I'll probably still see it.
