Elementary friend passes away

I would consider this person a friend , he use to hang around us. I guess he kind of looked up on us for some reason. He would do a lot of stuff for us, because we asked him i felt a little bad about this. But today, i got a call from my friend, that his mom called him to tell him that he died in a car crash. I haven't seen him in over a year. Its weird to think someone you knew, die and you will never see again. You reflect on your childhood, and you think nah it cant be true. But i guess you remember all the good times, and i remember being a kid and his still there.

What does this have to do with, tnl? I dont know.

Thanksgiving rocks.

I remember back in high school, sophomore year, this guy sat at lunch with my two friends and I. We'd BS all year, he was the abrasive but funny type. He always argued with one friend of mine in particular. I also learned that he lived literally a 5 minute walk from me.

Throughout the next two years I'd see him on occasion and BS for a little while, nothing major. The usual graduation thing happened, I saw him at a dinner get-together shortly thereafter, and we all moved on to college.

So anyway, during the winter break after my first college semester, I get the news from one of the friends who sat with us that he had died a few days prior. Apparently he had a history of night terrors and seizures, and that the latest one was the most violent. It sent him into a coma, and shortly after, his death. I couldn't believe it. Just a few months earlier I was laughing at him for falling over in his chair at graduation. I made it a point to visit the family, but nobody was ever home when I tried to pay a visit.

A few months later I find out that his mother died of massive depression, malnutrition, that sort of thing. That's so fucking sad.

Yeah. Losing a friend is a shitty part of life.

On the bright side there is only more friends dieing to look forward to!

wow that is said.. Thats the kind of relationship I had with him.. werent really tight, but BS when ever he hunged out.

I remember sitting in the gym just before we starting walking for graduation in HS. One of the heads of graduation was my english teacher, and just before we started walking down to the football field for the ceremony, she gave a speech. The usual, don't do anything stupid or we'll fucking shake our finger at you for the last time shit. One thing she said was, "Take a look around you. This is the last time you will be in the same room with your entire class". I didn't think much of it at the time, but she was right. Two years later one was killed by a drunk driver at his school and another killed himself 2 years after that.

Shit like that just makes you think about your life and what you've been through.

I don't think that she meant it quite like that, but I suppose you could interperit it that way.

I had something similar happen to me. There was this chick I used to talk to with. She was a really pretty and genuine girl, most of the school liked her. We weren't great friends but we'd shoot the breeze often enough. One day in class a school counselor came in and told us that she had died. It was a pretty dramatic moment, telling the entire class and all. The only thing I really remember was feeling incredibly hollow and numb. She had really abusive parents, and I guess her dad found out she smoked pot or something and beat her. She was a fairly rich girl, and her dad was a horse vet, so I geuss she found some horse painkillers or something to that effect and OD'ed on them. Pretty sad.

Yeah I've had a couple things that like happen - but the high school (senior year) one was wierd because in one of my classes there was a project where the teacher would choose a partner for you and you both had to work on this project and do a presentation and shit. I wasn't good friends with this girl I was partnered up with but we got along fine, everyone knew her, great student, academic type, top of the class type thing and all. So this class is the last period of the day, we're working on the project in class along with everyone else working on theirs in all these little groups, I don't really remember much aside from suggesting that we sabotage our own presentation with some random act of absurdity - she wasn't buying it but was nice enough to laugh. School lets out, she's giving me instructions on what to finish as we're walking in the school parking lot. That done, I get into my friends car and we start driving home after pulling a right out onto the road.

So maybe half a minute after we've cleared the parking lot and are out of view of the school this is what happened: she gets in her car and is at the end of the school parking lot drive way - the light turns green, she starts to pull out left... but the 18 wheeler that is going about 60 has a green light as well (the lights were newly installed and were now fucking up) and he collides into her. She was in a hospital immediately after that but died from internal stuff later that night. I didn't hear about it until i was back in class that morning seeing all these girls crying. I don't cry or anything like that but of course feel bad, I mean that sucks to hear - this girl was going to Harvard or some shit.

So this was also the day that we were scheduled to do our class presentation - I had all the shit with me and alot of her good friends were in that last period as well (you'd have figured they'd take the day off or something...) and so when I have to do my presentation I'm not really sure if I should do it that day ( everyone knows she was my group partner). But the teacher says 'yeah you should get it over with'. So I go up there by myself, and just act like its a solo presentation, improvise alot, its way shorter than the required time but i'm given some slack but the worst part was the whole time I was up there I could hear all her friends crying and just feeling a general air of "this is fucked". It was even more wierd because apparently I'm the last person who talked to her before she got hit. So yeah, that's my awful story.

True Story

1) One of the guys I used to hang out with when I was in elementary school found a shotgun in a river bed once with his friend. His friend accidentally killed him with it.

2) This girl that had a crush on me in elementary school got killed in a car accident.

3) In middle school one of my sister's best friends got raped and murdered while her little sister hid beneath a quilt but saw the whole thing.

3) In high school we were doing a a Saturday basketball practice and our star player was late. Really late. He had a head on collision on the way to practice and died.

4) My doubles partner (tennis) and good friend got killed in a car accident not long after he graduated high school.

5) My friend Brian from my neighborhood o.d.'d and became a vegetable right after high school, but I don't know if he's still alive today or not.

6) Another friend from the neighborhood who hung out with me and Brian got killed driving drunk right after high school.

7) This guy I worked with named Able who did outgoing inspection on orders from our Motorola warehouse/distribution center had an aneurism at work one day and died right there in a really messy way.

8) The manager of the shift that used to come in after me at work when I worked in that warehouse/distribution center came to work on his day off one day and killed his estranged wife with a handgun in the parking lot. Then he drove back to his apartment and killed himself. That was a horrible day. I had breakfast with him like two days before that too.
