Carlin is absolutely a living legend, but if you think his new material is anything compared to some of the stuff happening right now, you don't know shit about stand-up comedy. He's a has-been. His last special was out-of-touch and devoid of jokes. There's dozens of younger comics that are funnier than he is now.

David Cross and Larry the Cable Guy are both hacks, in my humble opinion, but I gotta take Cross in that match up, since Larry is up there with Carrot Top in my awful book.

LOL DANE COOK is the furthest thing from a SMART comedian. I've been following him for a long time. I don't have anything against he guy, I think he can generate a laugh or two, but I don't personally think he's at David Cross's level in terms of writing and material. Dane Cook is more energy than anything. I've seen/heard all of his popular material, literally, so I'm informed enough to form a valid opinion.

I do regard him higher than Larry the Cable guy, so fuck your baseless insults you cockless wonder.

What frightens me here is that the people who support this man have votes that influence the use of atomic weaponry.

Dane Cook is a very funny comedian, but not a great joke writer. It's mostly absurdist nonsense, and when someone tells you a Dane Cook joke, it's never funny. Which is fine. I think he's a funny bitch, but the material is basically a string of silliness and non-sequiturs. Compare him to comics that focus more on writing like, say Mitch Hedberg, Jim Norton, Dave Attel, Greg Giraldo, etc, and you'll see what I mean.

There are a ton of great comics out ther that don't get the kind of exposure that they deserve. Go see Patrice O'neal, Doug Stanhope, or Joe Rogan some time. Brutal, unapologetic comedians who aren't afraid to speak their version of the truth, even if it means burning bridges, having audiences walk on them, getting banned from clubs, etc, just like the true legends of this biz like Bill Hicks and Lenny Bruce. To me, that is the hallmark of a truly great comdian.

Uh oh we have an "afficianado" on our hands. The bottom line in comedy is laughs. If you can get there in a way that appeals to a lot of people more power to you, and Dane has done it and done it well.
