Yeah, I was talking to a friend who listened to most of Roth's show this morning and he confirmed that Dildo Dave drifted in and out of over a million random topics and still managed to babble off-topic while doing so. And the idiot interviewed his Uncle for about an hour about WW2. His UNCLE. For an HOUR. What an amazing guest to make an impact on your first show with! Maybe tomorrow Dave'll interview his fucking milkman or the guy that delivers his pizza.

To top it all off, Roth ended his show 5 minutes early. Less pain for us, I guess.

Free FM is a complete joke (and made me a lot more confident in my new Sirius subscription). All the format/name change does is show how big a deal Stern leaving them really is.

The dude only has an hour show each day (2-3, I think). WTF is up with that?

Is the talk radio format all that popular? In NY the all talk format failed for WNEW (primarily due to the O&A scandal) but I was a big fan of O&A and Ron and Fez. I don't even listen to commercial radio anymore. Also from what I remember when they plauyed talk shows from other markets on WNEW--Don and Mike and Leykis sucked

Hopefully Roth tanks so hard, they switch all the stations to Corolla. I know people don't like him, but I find him funnier than Stern. I would ditch my new Sirius if his show was in the Cleveland market.


Although I'm not sure how they would do a west coast AM show on the east coast. (Maybe delay the whole show for a day?) They probably would never do it unless Adam moved to NY.

Partialy, and the fact that music listeners are leaving in droves to Satellite and MP3 players. Radio is unlistenable now, and we have clear channel and infiniti to thank. The only profitable path now is to talk radio, "Urban" and Spanish music, all formats usualy perfered by groups that either can't afford, or are afraid to adopt new delivery methods.

Yeah, hfs was taken over by the spanish inquisition, then came back as talk...

That drove me to xm, then I got my iPod for xmas, Radio is DEAD.

Well... the talk format can be very popular (see: Stern, O&A) in New York, but when it's bad, no one's quicker to turn the dial.

The Don and Mike thing lasted like a year before they got yanked. Same with Leykis. They were atrocious shows that will never succeed in New York or Philly. The Radio Chick did awful too, and will continue to do so.

Really with all the restrictions about what you can and can't say, there's not a lot of room to do a fun show any more. I'm happy with my XM. O&A and Ron and Fez are enough radio to last through my day, and provide hardly laughs every day.

Carolla sucks on his own. He was great on Loveline, great on the man show, but you put him by himself and all of a sudden he's lost.

Is Loveline even on anymore?

I was thinking about this, and this is probably all Penn's doing. I don't know if anyone has read up on it, but they have an unreleased Sega CD game called Penn & Teller: Smoke & Mirrors.

The mistakes on the air make sense when the game features Desert Bus: where you drive from Los Angeles to Arizona at a constant 45 mph. It's based on a real stretch of road - pretty much straight, and nothing to see along the way. You cannot pause the game at all, if you veer off the road at any point, you lose, and the bus has a slight misalignment to the right, so you can't just put the controller down. It plays in real time, so it takes 6 hours to complete this part of the game. When you finish it, you get one point.

Or how about in any other part of the game, when you pause the game, you're stuck watching a 5 minute video of Penn & Teller eating pizza before you can unpause it.

So I expect today's show to be even worse.
