You're quite lucky your parents took so kindly to your video gaming. My dad hated it and took every moment he could to get me away from it.
He still hates it, too. In fact, it seems like he doesn't like that it's "infected" my little brothers, as well.

I hated video games when i was little. I think my dad played them, and i really liked the way some of them looked, but the only thing that didn't scare me to death was pinball. Super Mario Bros. 2 was the first video game i wanted to play, though i think Super Mario Bros. was the first game i played more than a few minutes. I remember my dad talking about this keen game they had on his ship called Zelda and watching games on free play for fun. When i was 8 or 9 i had SMB underwear and SMB jammies.

My parents got a 5200 and a shitload of games when it bombed, when I was 3 or 4... I too was weaned on Kaboom and Centipede (with the EXCELLENT 5200 Trackball controller for the optimum experience), along with Pacman, Super Breakout, Joust, River Raid, Qix, Q*Bert, Frogger II, Mario Bros., and Galaxian.
