I didn't say the distance from the earth to the sun caused the change in seasons, I know it's the angle of the earth's axis. I was merely pointing out a fact about the earth's rotation and the "most common" wrong answer about this particular matter, as you pointed out.Quote:

The difference in distance to the sun is negligable.
From one of many sources: "Many people believe that the seasons are caused by the Earth changing its distance to the Sun during its annual elliptical orbit. This is wrong. In fact, the Earth is closest to the Sun in January, when it is coldest in the northern hemisphere."
It has nothing to do with "What causes seasons".

Trust me, if anybody is being owned it is people believing otherwise.
Somebody with knowledge back me up.
PS: Crap, I just realized in my initial post I said Winter and not Summer! Should have read: Actually the earth isn't closer to the sun in the SUMMER. He was right the whole time. Self-ownage by me!
Yup, I misread and payed the price. Serves me right.Quote:

I got in trouble in the 6th grade for arguing with my teacher because she claimed the reflection of the ocean made the sky blue. It was my social studies teacher, too. Stupid cunt.Quote:
