I've been out of school for about 2 years now. I graduated from college with a diploma in Multimedia Design.
For years people told me I should be a chef because I have instincts and knowledge that just makes it seem like it would be a natural fit. So I finally checked out a really great college website for culinary and I think I may go.
The thing is, it's a hard decision for me. I'm almost 24 and I am just about to be promoted to Supervisor at my retail job. Multimedia Design didn't really work out because of the flakiness of the field. There are so many people wanting work but only so many jobs. In cooking however, there are tons and tons of jobs.
Then again, if I stuck with retail I could be making a decent salary at 26. So it's hard. I know I don't really want to work retail... anyone can do it. I want to do something that is a bit unique.
I think I'm going to do it. It's a 2 year course and I'll be 26 when I get out... my goal then would be to be making a decent 50-70k salary by 30 which is ultimately based off moving up in that field.
What do you guys suggest or recommend I do?
