Adventure and Adventure 2 on the Atari Flashback are excellent.
Seriously, though, inspired by this thread and HGM magazine, I just downloaded the remakes of King's Quest I and II by Tierra. I've just started the first game, but I'm really enjoying it.
There was a Maniac Mansion remake released too... used sprites from DotT. Now I can't wait for those Sierra packs to come in from Amazon! :)
Has anybody here played the adventure game version of "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream"? I recently read the short story and really thought it was a cool concept, and was intruiged to see that there was a game based off of it. Here is the entire story if you want to check it out:

I didn't know it was based on a short story. I figured it was a novel.
I have the game and played a couple hours or so into it a few years ago. It seemed quite good and I liked the multiple character selection. I would like to play it again but it won't run in XP and it's way too slow in DOSBox.
If you like the short story, then I guess it's worth playing. It's a bitch getting to run in a virtual environment, just a warning. Harlan's universe is far too creepy for my taste. Also, I think H.R. Gieger worked on the game as well.Quote:

I Have No Mouth But I Must Scream is something I've been considering starting up. I didn't have too much trouble setting it up for Dosbox, if I remember correctly.
oh yeah, you are right, I always mix those two games up. Good luck getting it to run.
I played through both of these and found them to be very well done. I'd never played the King's Quest series until these. I'd like to finish out the series now but I think I'll wait till they're released in an XP pack.Quote:

The easy to use Full Throttle-ish interface makes this game so easy to play as well.
Nice heads-up, Master. I'm really digging this one.
