Modern monochrome

Yeah, those smartshaders are fun. Lots of really cool ones, none of which I'd ever use for anything. :)

I'm always up for a new visual look. As nice as Killer 7's visuals were, I wish something experimental would come along more often. Next up, Okami.

Use it on flashback or dream sequences.

The thing about using black and white is that you can get really good intense shadows and highlights. If a company was able to make a black and white game that really takes advantage of that fact and is not just doing it to fit in a known style then it could be well done.

Doesn't Condemned have a black and white scene at the end of the game?

Isn't that one fps zombie game monochrome?

Disconnect two of the three cables used for component video and voila, instant b&w.

I am at a part in DQ8 that is all monochrome except for the characters. It's pretty cool.

B&W is cool but with videogames I think its little more than a gimmick. Neat for a little but is it something that Id want to play for 10+ hours? Probably not.
