Iran is violating a treaty. They aren't allowed to have nuclear weapons. We are. That's what most of the idiots who post here and whine don't get. The Middle East mess gets bigger when we ignore it. No one wants to use US troops over there, but the alternative could be much worse.

This is really a no win situation for both sides.

The thing I don't understand is that there's no proof their bid for nuclear power is going to lead to a weapons program besides the fact that we all assume it will (as do I). Can we act off this assumption or do we need something concrete?

We weren't allowed to violate the nuclear armistice with Russia, we did. And why? To waste billions of dollars on Star Wars II: The Phantom Missile Shield. You can posture about how Iran has FORCED us back into nuclear standoff, but the truth of the matter is that the US has led the world back to the brink and did so unashamedly.

Like what? A nuclear standoff between Iran and Israel (who technically shouldn't have nukes either but WE decided they can) that holds until the youth popular movement finally gets power in Iran?

Look, you can claim that diplomacy is dead, but you really have a very myopic administration concept of it. It's the same line of thinking that said we could never reason with the 'godless' Soviets and that a pre-emptive strike in Cuba and Germany was the only way to 'save' the world from a nuclear conflict.

The time for diplomacy is over.
