The deduction for business vehicles over 6,000 pounds (which results in this tax break for Hummer owners who use their cars for business use 50% or more of the time) was originally setup to subsidise farmers allowing them to buy large equipment like trucks and tractors.

This is just another example of how subsidies that go unchecked and are given out far too generously cause problems later down the road.

What did you buy where you got a $2,000 tax credit? A hybrid?
