Official site is up, and they've finally released an official trailer for it. Seriously, take a look. Even if you're not interested in the PS3 anymore, it's still some very nice eye candy.

This looks so fucking good, imo. I've seen it for some reason lumped in with the huge crop of generic futuristic shooter bullshit coming out, but I don't know how people can say this looks generic. Maybe people don't realize the time period this is taking place ('50s). I personally think it already has the best aesthetic and art direction of any FPS outside of Half-Life 2, and maybe NOLF/Halo. And just straight up visually, I think it looks better than anything on the 360, and just about anything on the PS3. And most importantly, it's coming from Insomniac, so I have every faith that it will actually turn out to be a very good game.

During the first 30 seconds of the trailer I thought this game looked like just another grizzled war shooter, but the blend of grizzly war and futuristic theme may just make for an interesting game.

At the same time, however, none of the gameplay shown in that movie impressed me. It was standard dash and shoot.

The fact that it takes place in the 50s doesn't impress me much if it's not remotely apparant otherwise. Making a standard futuristic shooter and then saying "lol 1950" doesn't mean it isn't a standard futuristic shooter.

It does look very well-executed for what it is, though.

I find Insomniac highly overrated. I am glad though they're not spending the rest of their lives just making Ratchet sequels.

If the PS3 were reasonably priced, it'd be on my list. Looks very cool to me.

I'd give it a rent if a PS3 ever falls in my lap.

It was probably the best thing at the Sony press conference, not saying much. And Gears of War matches it visually, IMO. And Crysis kills it, but that kills everything.

It doesn't speak well for their ability to recreate the '50s when people are mistaking it for a futuristic shooter. Nobody would even know it was supposed to be set in the past if they didn't specifically state it. The gun and the HUD certainly don't look anywhere in the general viscinity of "50's retro", and the environments we've seen thus far are just rubble, so there's no visual cue arcitecturally, either.

The problem with Gears of War is the boring-looking art direction compared to this game. Don't get me wrong, it looks good, it's just not all that creative looking. This game was looking boring up until you saw some of the nice effects and alien monsters in the game.

I'm more interested in GoW from a game play perspective, however.
