I came into the franchise late. I think I played Red for the first time in 2001. The beauty of the game is in it's simplicity. In alot of ways, it reminds me of Earthbound with an addictive hook (collect them all).

But like other's have said. Nintendo never grew the idea. They just kept rehashing it. If it was in competent hands, we would have had a MMORPG, an SRPG or even a 3D fighter by now. Not lamenting on how lame the series is.
