If anyone actually believed Bush when he said the program was limited to terrorism suspects, here's more:

The government is getting phone call records of news organizations and tracing the calls to find confidential sources. The leak was provided "in-person", just like the fucking Deus Ex videogame. This is bad.
The question is, whille ABC have the balls to put this on World News Tonight and report on it EVERY DAY and flood the airwaves? Or will they go into a hole and cry when Fox, Powerline and Glenn Reynolds calls them America haters and treasonus (sic)?Quote:
A senior federal law enforcement official tells ABC News the government is tracking the phone numbers we call in an effort to root out confidential sources.
"It's time for you to get some new cell phones, quick," the source told us in an in-person conversation.
ABC News does not know how the government determined who we are calling, or whether our phone records were provided to the government as part of the recently-disclosed NSA collection of domestic phone calls.
Other sources have told us that phone calls and contacts by reporters for ABC News, along with the New York Times and the Washington Post, are being examined as part of a widespread CIA leak investigation.
One former official was asked to sign a document stating he was not a confidential source for New York Times reporter James Risen.
Our reports on the CIA's secret prisons in Romania and Poland were known to have upset CIA officials.
People questioned by the FBI about leaks of intelligence information say the CIA was also disturbed by ABC News reports that revealed the use of CIA predator missiles inside Pakistan.
Under Bush Administration guidelines, it is not considered illegal for the government to keep track of numbers dialed by phone customers.
The official who warned ABC News said there was no indication our phones were being tapped so the content of the conversation could be recorded.
A pattern of phone calls from a reporter, however, could provide valuable clues for leak investigators.
Me too.Quote:

it's actually pretty brilliant. Bush said, "They hate us for our freedom." In a few more years they won't hate us anymore. I, for one, welcome our new government overlords. Serously, the terrorists are winning. People are too complacent to care that their civil liberties are being tread upon and that's how things get worse.

I just did, and I wonder why these people hate freedom. "dont report on the illegal and unconsistutional things the government is doing". It's sad that pap like this is part of the discourse and prominent Bush Cult sites openly practice it and give it a nice lawyerly sheen (like the aforementioned Powerline, and Michelle Malkin). I hate to bring up Orwell because it has become so trite, but these people really do believe slavery = freedom.Quote:

Seriously, this how democracy dies; when you replace freedom and liberty with fear-mongering and oppression. I mean, do you see how many of those idiots are calling the press traitors and 'seditionists' that need to be 'shot'? How can we, the United States of America, have come to this?Quote:

England's Tony Blair is so far worse than Bush. There some rights we treasure here in America are already shot to Hell (freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, habeas corpus, innocence until proven guilt, right to privacy, and jury trial).
I never did believe him. Never will. He's a typical politician.Quote:
