Davinci Code

I didn't really see a thread for this one, but is anyone seeing it. I saw some people say they are seeing it in the "Summer Movie Bonanza" thread. They let the critics pre-screen this movie at the Canne Film Festival and the reviews are far from flattering.

So, I may not be hyped for this movie; yet now I'll probably have a more enjoyable experiance. The lower your expectations, the easier the letdown.

Might see it.

Didnt read the book, but read the book the DaVinci Code stole from, "Holy Blood Holy Grail", and I've already heard what the big secret is.

I think most of the audience probably has too, so would the suspense of the movie not be there without this plot point, I wonder?

I'm going to see this tomorrow night with friends -- it looks like a well crafted film. Whether or not Jesus has a bloodline is irrelevant for me, because we're never going to find out. So right now I take it as fun fiction and nothing more.

I hope to check it out on Sunday.

I read an article yesterday that said it "bombed" at Cannes, but the criticisms in the article were mostly from Vatican officials, Ill be watching, I would think its hard to screw this movie up.

I'm going to be happy when I don't have to see giant pictures of Tom Hanks worried face all over the place.

That being said I plan to have a TS of this by saturday.

The critisism on Rottentomatoes.com is pretty bad. Most of them liked the book, but the movie they don't. Biggest problem is the length.

Ebert gave it three stars. The review gives away a lot of plot points but it's overall enthusiastic. As long as it doesn't put me to sleep I should be ok.

That's pretty high praise coming from Ebert, when he had this to say about the Da Vinci Code book in his National Treasure review:
