Y's

Y's keeps coming up in conversation this month so i thought the series needed its own thread.

Personally I haven't played many of them and was wondering what order I should play them in if I hunt some of the others up. (and don't tell me to use fucking google. I want YOUR opinion on this.)

So yeah, lets talk about Y's :)

Start at 1 and work your way up.

Yeah, you should play them in order, since many of the characters from parts 1 and 2 return in part 4. When you get to 4 (PC-Engine version), be sure to use Nightwolve's awesome English patch. It makes the game SO much better. There are also English-translated ROMs of Mask of the Sun (part IV on SNES) and part V on SF as well.

How do the older games compare to that Ps2/PSP Ys game, The Ark of Shit.

As much as I want to disagree, I can't. They're massively overrated by a certain group of people, and just benefitted from being in the right place at the right time (and having awesome soundtracks). Each one feels more like a blueprint for a game rather than a finished product.

I've only played 3 and whatever the newest stateside PS2 release was. 6, i guess.
I imagine 3 was an awesome game back in the early days of SNES, and Ark of Naphisantslkjkm is fun to play now. They're bogged in old-school. I enjoy that, but i imagine most people don't.
