I was talking more about animation for film, excluding the game studios. You're right, but at the same time your chances are better if you're in California.

yeah your chances are still best in Cali but Cali isnt the only place shit is done at and with the cost of office space and energy in Cali I can only imagine studios will continue to spread away from there
Absolutely. The only thing is that in NY you mention 2 options (and there's obviously a lot more) while in California you have things like Pixar, Blur and ILM. I already mentioned Florida for Disney's 3D stuff but I think it deserves to be mentioned again. Disney seems to be doing a lot of cool "Disney-esque" animation in the 3D realm and I welcome it.
I know a lot of people really don't like the idea of animation outside Pixar (and Pixar is amazing, no doubt about it), but if you need a good alternative the movies Disney is bankrolling in 3D seem pretty swell.
Apparently Pixar pays about $60,000-$70,000, amirite?
That is jack shit for the Bay Area! But I guess you don't get into the field for money.
Game development is bad pay through the whole pipeline. Programmers can get paid double for half the work at some boring company making financial software or some shit.
It varies. Typically the more creative input and control you have the more money you make.Quote:
