WTF @ this demo. I'd like some game with my HUD please.
Shit flying all over the place? Sounds better than Silpheed: The Lost Planet already. That was one of the most uninteresting shooters I've ever played.
Most of the shit in question is just a combination of the background and the mess of a HUD. Didn't seem to be much actual action, though. Just fire a missile, wait, fire another missile, wait, etc. I think one of the enemies may have shot back at some point, but I honestly couldn't tell
So did anyone but me play through the tutorial first? The hud and everything makes perfect sense after that. I liked being able to follow along the exhaust trails to match the motions of the target, lock speed and then speed up. Puts them in perfect range for grilling from the nose cannon. I enjoyed the demo a lot, but I bet the difficult will turn off a lot of people. They should have gone for an easier level.
I thought the tutorial was excellent, actually. It's the reason I still plan on getting the full game.

Random thoughts from the demo:
That mission has gotta be from the middle of the game. It took me about 6 tries to complete it, and I had lost all but 3 of the ships I was escorting by then.
I'm glad the game allows full control remapping. I hate all of the default control options.
Radar seems mostly useless except for spotting the carrier. Exhaust trails were the easiest way to track enemies. That padlock view mode is horribly useless.
It's annoying how some weapons won't let you use the special moves. I rammed the capital ships a few times because the weapon I was using wouldn't let me do an instant half-loop.
The graphics are beautiful but awfully chaotic. The framerate seems to drop sometimes, too. The target reticules seem to jitter as well - it would be a lot easier to aim if they moved smoothly.
This game has a few problems but I may still get this. I like space sims, and the $40 price tag is nice.
Padlock view seems to be great for homing weapons. Target something behind you, hit padlock, let off a few missiles, dump padlock. It should be fun once there's a mission with a better learning curve.

Was there anyway to make the camera control not loose and useless?
