I got this yesterday and played Brad for 3 rounds. It is much better than I ever though it would be. I really wasn't that interested in the game so the fact that I enjoyed it so much really is a testament to how good it is.

JM aka Latro and I played a match last night that must have lasted an hour and a half. Definetly the most intense match I've played yet. I used the Dwarve army and JM used Mordor. We got so high up on powers we were attacking each others fortress with Barrage and Earthquake. JM even managed to produce some Mumakil(elephants) while I was attacking his fortress that caught me by suprise. After getting my fortress destroyed and most of my structures, I only had one builder left and managed to rebuild my fortress and press on with more fighting. I noticed when your fortress is gone you can't use your ring powers anymore also. Building my fortress back up and using the Earthquake on his destroyed much his fortress and all surrounding soldiers and structures to seal the my first victory against JM. Good matches yesterday JM, Prince Planet and GlassjoeBMF. I want to try some 2 vs 2 matches soon with El Capitan in the mix to see how that works out.
This game owns. A little overwhleming at first (since I haven't played an RTS in forever), but enormously fun once you get the basics down. A huge variety of maps, and enough factions, units, upgrades, and spells to keep it interesting for a long, long time. Aside from some occasional server glitches when setting up the match, the game plays very smoothly over Live. Who's got this besides Brad, Latro and El Capitan? I thought I saw Grant (Elfneedsfood) online with this. We really need some 2 v. 2, free-for-alls, etc.
Yeah, I have it. I really like it, but I'm pretty sure I suck royally at this game. I haven't played an RTS in years, and I wasn't good at them back then either. I'm down for some games if anyone wants to play. It should be an easy win for you.
I think you're overestimating the competition, or me at least. I'm sure I'll be playing pretty much every night (PST) this week.Quote:

Hence, my battles too often involve my entire army simply going mental on 1 or 2 targets, usually resulting in my army eventually getting slaughtered.
Yeah, that's the same problem I have.Quote:

Everyone in here feel free to add me to your friends list if you get on before I do.
I haven't played much skirmish yet. Only 2 matches with Brad and 1 with Brad and Lattro. Mainly slowly playing though single player, but I'm gonna take some time to learn more about the different races and some better strats. We should try to get some 2 on 2 games going very soon.
I'll get on around 8:30 central tonight, I've been trying to learn the Elves since they are the hardest to master. Prince Planet, instead of Bookmarking just push left on the directional pad and then pull your right trigger to give different troops certain task. Seems to work pretty well and so far proves to be quicker than bookmarking. I'll add elfsneedfood to my friends list also.
Yeah, that's what I've been doing. It does work well, but bookmarking has the advantage of being able to put separate-but-complimentary units together for tandem operations, e.g., pikeman and archers. But even then, I really don't see how I can make them move properly with a single command -- for example, with pikeman moving out first to protect the archers from a calvary charge. Whatever...still fun as hell.Quote:
