Over the past four years, I've gone to school M-F, and worked 8 hours each day Saturday and Sunday. Last school year (senior year of HS), I worked a six hour day during the week, as well. It wasn't too bad, but when I started working a second job an additional 12 hours a week over 3 days, my grades started to suffer, and it just sucked working six days a week, as well as spending 30 hours a week at school.

Now, I only work Saturday and Sunday at another store, and instead of having to get up early every day of the week, I only have to set the alarm one day. Classes 3:30-6:15 ftw.

I long commute can really fuck you up. You're at work for 8+ hours and for a lot of people commuting to like NYC, you add an hour, hour and a half one way just to get into work. It's the fucking worst getting up at 7am and getting home at 7:30pm, and that's just doing your job, you haven't done anything outside of that (and that's without staying late at work).

It really fucks with your body and mind.

Don't feel so bad for us clock-punchers, as I end up making overtime nearly every paycheck. And technically, I don't "punch" a clock, I just write my hours down and give them to accounting.

You get paid for the time.

A lot of salaried people don't.

Don't get me wrong, I realize it could be a LOT worse. Of course there are some days I have to stay late, but as general rule I prefer working 5 8's over 4 10's.

I wake up every day at 630am, i leave the house at 7am to get in the office for 830am, take my lunch 1-2pm, leave the officer 530pm, get on a bus before 6 if i'm lucky, and i'm hope by around 7. The commute and lunch multiplies my week by more than fucking 1.5. 8 hour days taking 12.5 ftl. If i slept normal hours, i'd have a full 3 hours to myself a day! it's a good thing i spend all of work on TNL.

I've decided that when I do get a job, I am not commuting. I would fucking kill to be able to roll out of bed at 8 for work, eat lunch at home, and be home for 6. An extra 12+ hours a week to myself would be heaven. As much as I say i'm miserable here, it's because of the commute killing my day more than anything.

I don't see much advantage to salary. You get paid the same whether you work 40 or 60 hours a week. Seems like a scam to get free work out of people.

I live 10 miles away from work. That is pretty much how it is for me. Except I dont go home for lunch. Still its not good enough, I want to move 3-5 miles away at most.

You get paid for time you take off, and you aren't watched like a hawk. Sounds good to me.
