Luthier have the go ahead. He's loves it. We think we're going to do half lines from the bottom up with side dots for the rest of the guide-line.
That or black lines and I'll have to get used to it. I want it to look as "unlined" as we can.

My J bass had dots on the top. Good for learning, but once I got used to it I didn't even need those. Kinda like how you had to look at the fretboard when starting out playing guitar, and now you probably don't need to.
Your fretless playing will be as good as your ear is.
Oh yeah, regular fretless is no problem it's the 34"-37" multiscale "fanned fret" thing that'll fuck it up.
You'll get used to it unless you're some kind of noob.
I don't think I've even heard a fretless guitar. I would sound terrible on one, my fingering on a guitar is fucking abysmal.insert fingering joke here
I have a cheap Yamaha lined fretless bass. It's great to practice with, and even on a shitty fretless you can get those awesome swelling slides and vibrato out of it.
Working out the right rig to reproduce an F#0 fundamental tone. Not the second or third harmonic, but the actual note.
I'm looking into Phil Jones Stuff and fEARful cabs, with a Bag End Infrasub.
I would love to try out some fEARful cabs, they're supposed to be the ducks nuts. They like to use 6" speakers, which I'm a huge fan of.
I'll looking at 2 8x6 Phil Jones cabs a sansamp, and a 1000 watt poweramp.
Should be under $2000
Other news: I got the Ibanez BTB 6 string. It's really nice. Really nice. I way have finally found my real instrument.
I can wait for my fanned-fretless.
(and the headless 8 string)
