Here is my most recent acquisition. I haven't bought a new guitar in probably 10 years, so I was a little stoked about this one. It's the newer J. Mascis signature Jazzmaster. It's a Squire, and only cost me 400 bucks. I initially wanted the purple sparkle one, but they're just too expensive for me. Honestly, I'm 100% shocked at the build quality of this guitar, it's top notch in every way. I've also got a 50th Anniversary CIJ Jaguar, and this Squire is just a much much nicer guitar. I have no idea how Fender can sell this guitar for so cheap.

icarusfall, I can't think of any other way to say what's on my mind with out coming off eDickish so please tell me that you managed to ship off some of those $50 t-shirts before you posted the picture of your fancy custom built instrument.

That's a nice one Jed! Are you still in Oly? We seem to play down there pretty frequently nowadays.

Yeah, I'm still down in Oly town. I'll probably be here till the day I die. I definitely need to come see you guys next time you're in town. I've been REALLY out of the loop music-wise the last year or so, been way too busy with the whole mmj care-provider nonsense.

I've been saying it for years. Squires are better guitars than Fenders. Fender has been coasting on their name for a long time. The vintage modified line of Squires are shockingly good. Go to Guutar Center and A/B between a $300 Squire and a $3000 Fender and prepare to be amazed.

Well that's pretty cool!

We played with a two piece thrash band from down there called Vanguard. They were AWESOME. I'm biased against duos too but they managed to climb out of that hole within a minute. The bandcamps don't do justice but I'll post them anyhow http://realvanguard.bandcamp.com/

Damn, I should be ashamed of myself. Local dudes and I've never even heard of them. I suck.

Do you guys do your own setups on your guitars? I have tried and tried and tried to learn how do it properly and it just drives me fucking crazy. I guess I just don't have the patience, but I've been messing with this Jazzmaster for a month now and can't seem to get it right.

I do my own. I don't go too deep but I set height and intonation no problem. I wish I had a tip or a trick but I just do it as shown in a million places online and it works out pretty good. I am told that absolute perfection of intonation is not quite possible. Could you possibly be overperfectionisting it?

I use three barrel saddles. They're impossible to intonate perfectly. Makes it so I can't stress over it. :tu:

Perfect intonation isn't rock and roll anyway. Never hide your flaws.
