Bahn:Yeah. i was using the Lamborghini car :)
Its a Speed car with absurd boost. I prefure The Dalorean car more right now. It handles so well. And the boost on the special version is way good. I think its called the P12 or something.
And i've discovered a new joy. Road Rage with the Van, on the Freeway in the oncoming lane. Talk about fun times :D
So, yeah. I have this on 360, play with me.
And it's a little known secret (well, if you know me in real life, not so much) that I have a horrid sense of direction. As such, I get lost. What's worse is that there are time when you take a shortcut and it leads you going the wrong way for the race because the turn signal thing got all screwy. I really wish it would just yell at me to TURN LEFT, or do rally style directions because I am not paying attention to the (low) sound or the street sign flash. And because your going 200 miles an hour, it's very different to do a 90 degree left than a veer to the left.
And SHOWTIME mode sucks. In fact, I am not super high on the game, but it can be fun and I would like to do the online stuff.
Anyone have a problem with the voice chat in the 360 version? I joined Chux's game and wasn't able to hear or talk to anyone else, but I was able to send a voice message that came through fine.
I had that issue last night, in an 8 player game I could only hear 1 person
i have never had the voice work online in burnout for the 360. I dont know if its my mic or what. Not even voice comes through.
My impressions thus far are that this game fucking rocks. It's what Burnout should be. The worries I had before getting the game about having no restart and not having directional arrows have not bothered me in the least.
No restarts is fine simply because there is a challenge at every fucking stop light, so I lose or can't complete that challenge I just pull up to the next stop light, and bam, right back in it. I can see why OCD gamers would have a problem with this, but I don't mind not being able to complete that challenge until I don't come back to it. As for the no directional arrows, the blinker is shitty, but the compass on top and mini map are more than enough to guide you to your destination. Also if I don't think I know where I'm going, I just go to the big map, check out a route I want to take, and try to follow it as best I can. Basically planning out my route mid race.
I can't really say much about the gameplay that hasn't been said already besides that it's great and feels just like Burnout to me. My few complaints are with the lack of variety. There needs to be more types of races, Road Rage, Stunt, and Race just aren't enough. Plus the lack of circuit racing REALLY pisses me off. I love lap based racers, and while A to B racing is fun, that being the only type of race gets repetitious. They need to add a Midnight Club style circuit with check points but still with laps and I would be in heaven.
Also, fuck my voice chat not working in multiplayer, fix that immediately Criterion. I was pissed when I couldn't yell obscenities at Evilmog when we were smashing each other repeatedly.
Yeah the chat is not working properly. But there are problems I have with the whole no restarts/no menu for selecting events thing. First, there are some races that I just botch at the end and would like to try again. Second, there are not any events on the west side. So if its "GO FROM EAST TO WEST", then at the end I am hosed because I have done the ones on the west.
I do the whole planning in advance too. There aren't any tunrs required, so if I can figure out that there's a left here, a veer to the right here, what have you, I am OK.
Yeah, that's true. I normally spend that time looking for cars/shortcuts/jumps until I get near some more challenges. Don't get me wrong, I would really like a restart option, but it hasn't bothered me (or bothered me at all) as much as I thought it would have. Especially considering I'm the person who in the PGR games would restart Cone Challenges until I got them perfect.
Actually... I didn't use that car... I used the A-Team looking van. I wasn't going to reveal this until I could prove it myself, but using this car will GUARANTEE victory in completing those time rule laps. Because it's not so much just about speed -- but reaching the goal in one piece. :p
You can basically take on anything except tow trucks and some Corvette-looking vehicle. Try it out - - you'll nail the Time Rule achievement in no time.
(And yes, it can work well with Road Rage as well as Marked Man)
Rumpy: see above... this is part of the reason the scores are ridiculous.
I am going on shortly so I am down to get these team challenges out of the way. *looks at Chux*
