Tokyo Game Show - What to do/buy in Tokyo

I'm going to the Tokyo Game Show for the first time and I was wondering where I should go to see some cool retro hardware and software. Where do people buy these 100-n-1 games, can I get a cool super gun, what else would be cool to get while I'm there?

People rave about Akihabara but in reality, there isn't too much for retro anymore. If you aren't too hardcore, it may be impressive. Multi-carts are sometimes available on street tables in the backend blocks but they are horribly expensive compared to the rest of Asia. If you can figure out where the arcade shops are, they all stock super guns (aka control boxes).

What district are the arcade shops in?

last i visited tokyo, there were arcades in every corner of a building, but that was in 1997, so things might have changed now...

Getting some jap tang would be cool.
