The running theme for this year's NL playoffs: Someone has to win the series.
NY Post is reporting Torre is fired and Pinella is in. That was fast. I'm glad to see Torre gone. The more people from those late 90s teams that leave the happier i am. Pinella will implode in NY.
Bonderman got the job done today, I'm really hoping the Tigers can advance to the series because they've managed to really step it up in the playoffs despite some of their second half troubles. I'm expecting the Mets to be there because even with their weakened pitching rotation the rest of the NL teams don't have much to offer. I really think the Phils could've been the one team to beat them because they had a few really decent pitchers and some good bats but obviously we don't have to worry about that now.
Good luck to the remaining teams. Tigers will have a tough series coming up, the Mets won't.
I rarely post here because I'm far from a sports guru and I tend to ignore stats since they took up a lot of my time when I was younger, but I just wanted to say:
Fuck you, Yankees. How do you have all that talent on your team and still not deliver?
i cannot really begin to describe this wonderful night at this time.
but i'm gonna say one thing though:

the headline is: fewer than a dozen fans greet yankees in new york
i <3 you, but fuck this noise. you sound like a real mets fan who lives in california. it's a very different reality here in nyc where the mets and their fans have been second fiddle and second class for over 10 years now.
last night i went out and screamed let's go mets at everyone i saw, and too bad if you were a yankee fan. because for the first time in years, your team isn't better than mine. even the classy yankee fans always had this fucking air around them like "oh, that's cute that your shitty underdog team is doing well, obviously not as well as the yanks, in your shitty underdog league with your shitty underdog two rings, because you know the yanks have 26. i hope you make it to the subway series, i'm rooting for you until then." not anymore. mets fans took over...the ratio of mets stuff to yankee stuff out last night at bars was 3 to 1. and these people hadn't just bought their shit either (though that will come). even the women were friendlier...the ones who weren't dejected over the yanks anyway. but fuck them.
if today's top story is the yanks' loss, that's fine. there's plenty of mets back pages to come.
because the mets are the home team again.
