You people get so upset when someone doesn't agree with any of your advice.
calling me jeremy. So cold. So very cold.
It's not that we're angry that you disagree, it's just you're so damn pig-headed.
For serious. The peoples have given you some ideas, but you are being a bit dumb.
Well, I guess I could see what the local school clubs are doing. It isn't like I don't already spend lots of time arguing with retarded self rightious people.
But I'm not going to hang around if I'm right, and its mostly stupid kids using current events to back up the feelings of their parents.
At least then you could come to the argument table informed.
I doubt it would matter. Gozen and diff don't accept points that stand on different philosophies than theirs, even if those philosophies are informed.
They'd find an angel to take, to gain their "victory." They would either attack the information gathered and how valid it is, your ability to understand the information you gathered, or your own personal biases that you used to interpret the information.
They believe strongly in their points of view. I've yet to witness anyone ever really changing their minds on anything here. They believe in themselves and will only change their minds when they seek and find information that they feel is worthy to change their perspectives. In many ways they are two of the most stubborn men on this board.
Yes, being more informed would be good for me on a personal level. But as for TNL, I will always be "retarded" because I have an eccentric world view that they will never agree with.
I remember argueing with you about socialized health care and how it could work, if our system was inherently more effecient. Naturally it was just a 'what-if' thing but you were still dead-set against it - siting largely ideas you almost definitly gleaned from your father, the doctor. So I kinda got the impression that you were backing up the interests and feelings of your parents, so to speak. I'm not up to debating it again, as I said, it was more of a 'imagine what if," and a "how do we get the govenment to be more efficient in spending."
Anyway, 3 parties simply don't work in our system no more than a broad subsidized medical/phamacuitical system won't unless sweeping changes are made that inherently undermine these ideas.
My concern with the current elctorial process isn't the process itself, but the general attitude of the country. Yoshi sited that being Okay with the Gay makes you unelectable. This is very true. I like to site 'Frontline's' special on the "Faith of George W. Bush" and how they said, "If you can get the evangelical christians in the country to vote for one person, that person will win."
The system works this way, and it's fair, so evangeicals can basically make policy - largely because they're the most moblized and populous and more-or-less politically homogenous group in the United States. My concern is that I generally disagree with them.
I believe you are forgetting how that discussion ended. We both agreed that it was needed, and would benefit society, but wasn't really practical right now on the grounds that lots of money would be wasted on the current system. We agreed that the government and the medical industry both needed to be streamlined so the average American would get the lowest possible cost/tax for a national healthcare system.
But you are partly right. I do form my opinions on how I perceive my dad's life. While some on the board are reading 5 gold star books on amazon about how evil this group is, and how awesome that is, I'm getting pissed that my Dad got paid 65 cents to give a shot to someone and will have to take the rest of the cost out of his own pocket. I do not form my opinions based on what my Dad says, but what I observe about his life.
Each is probably equally stupid. You shouldn't believe everything you read, and the country is bigger than one state so you shouldn't form opinions solely on the people around you.
I guess I forgot the resolution, or rather, forgot we agreed.
As to your dads situation, it ticks me off much much more that my own father suffered severe and life threatening staff infection from the hospital and consent forms and such (absolutely required for service) pretty much meant we could do nothing about it except pay more money (the large amount not covered by insurance) to have it treated (a large cyst developed, it's all quite gruesome, I had to attened to his injections and change the wound dressings twice daily for 4 months). I can understand the frustration of having to pay money, effectively, to treat someone but there's the other side where lives are on the line. It's not common, but the shit happens and often enough to be alarming. Mind you, this was all at the TMC, a place considered the best in the world for health care.
