$200.
I like the Sunday release date. I remember with GC it was the same thing, I went into EB about a half hour after the store opened and it was deserted. I picked up my pre-order, paid, and went straight home.
I kinda wish VC was more of a Sega Channel-like mode of distribution. As it is, shelling out bucks for each game, I really have no real reason to do so since the titles I do want to play I probably already own or can fire up on an emulator.
They lost me with $250, the $50 two-part separately-sold remote w/ analog, and only one remote in the package. I'm not paying more than $150 for a fucking Gamecube with motion control. How did the Gamecube technology suddenly start to cost $50 more than it did five years ago? Also, I'm sure as fuck not ever in my lifetime going to pay for a goddamn web browser. LOL @ that.
The $250 with only one controller in a package that comes with a multiplayer game shows that Nintendo's whole thing about appealing to the masses is fronting of the most rampant nature.
I agree completely. I'm still getting the system, but god damn Nintendo, why the hell are you selling the Wii controller and the nunchuck seperately? Don't you pretty much need both for 80% of the games out there?
And for that price they should have at least included a retro controller into the package. Now to play 2 player Virtual Console games you need to pretty much spend $65 to get a controller and a retro add on (because it's not like you are going to buy a Wii controller without the nunchuck, that would be pointless).
The retro controller is a stand-alone controller with 2 analog sticks. You don't need the nunchuck for it.
EDIT: It actually plugs into the Wiimote expansion slot, like the Nunchuk does. This is most likely why they sell the expansion peripherals seperately, though I do agree it's a little steep. So you were right, sorta, but you can buy the retro one for the 'mote that comes with the system.

The ign article says that the Wii is going to come with one wii remote and one nunchuck...I think.
Selling those two controller parts separately seems a bit over the edge. They need to fix that error before launch.
OK, the ign article says "Nintendo's Wii console will come packaged with one Wii remote, one nunchuck attachment, an AC adapter, an audio/video cable, a sensor bar, sensor bar stand, a Wii console stand, and two batteries. The US package will also come bundled with a copy of Wii Sports, a compilation sports game that best shows off the mechanics of the system's unique controller. Wii Sports features tennis, baseball, golf, and previously-unannounced bowling and boxing games." That seems good enough to me for $250 :)
