The whining about that plot twist is stupid, it was a good and relatively unused plot twist, it's not like it isn't possible (lol) and the playing on what was once a game becoming it's own reality is a fun theory.

I enjoyed the game. It isn't stellar but the combat is fun and the game is short -- I think I finished it in 25 hours. I started the EX dungeon, but quickly moved on to other things. I think for 20 bucks, it's a good deal and you could probably beat the game in 20 hours with minimal grinding.
I tried this game for about an hour and a half last night and it's terrible. What's with the intermittent voice then text then voice then text then voice then text - it's fucking 2008, can we get all voice here from a company like Square? The game is needlessly complex on a host of issues and why do I have to assume some measure of control over alternate personalities instead of just controlling them? It's weird. Why can't I jump? Why can't I jump off of the fucking porch?
I used to love JRPG's, but they've fallen really far behind.
A friend lent it to me, and I'm enjoying it. It is a perfect example of the generic JRPG though, with horrible character designs and the most transparent plot imaginable. I've been playing these types of games for years, so I can still enjoy them enough to play to completion, but I can see how today's gamers avoid them like the plague. Western RPGs shit on JRPGs from a mighty height.
Haha. That's the thing with me too. I don't think this game is good, and yet I've been playing it for 10 hours now, and I don't know why. It must be just because, like you, I'm used to a lot of the jRPG conventions, and as much as I bitch about them, I will be saddened if jRPGs go away entirely (even though western RPGs are so much better).
You know what this game reminds me of though? Kind of a 3D version of those old overhead 2D action-RPGs like Shining Wisdom (for Saturn) or even the Mana games (though not as good). In fact, I'd say it's about as good as Shining Wisdom on Saturn, and I played through that to completion.
Well that was the games final 'Fuck YOU!' to me. There IS only ONE save point. And I made it to floor 5 of the dungeon, after having beat 3 bosses, and then died on a group of enemies and then had to reload to the beginning of it all. I checked Gamefaqs and it looks like the last dungeon is 10 levels long, with boss fights on every other floor and only one save point on floor 11. Fuck that.
That's an example of the kind of design I was tolerant of in JRPGs back in the day, but now have no willingness to endure.
But you're so close ...
I'm just going to grind like hell I guess. There's a creation trick where you can earn over 400k Fol, so it's best to just stock up on a shitload of Miraculous Medicines for that last dungeon.
