Whoa, settle down, tiger. The RX-8 is going to be a lot easier for haulin' kids than the Mitsu Eclipse he asked about earlier. Both the RX-8 and the GTO have very good back seats for sporty coupes--they're good practical, sporty cars with more emphasis on sporty. If he wants more emphasis on practical...well, he shouldn't be asking about an Eclipse then :)

I wish my car had a read-out for tire pressure. My last car had a leaky tire, and ever since then I'm frequently paranoid about my tire pressure >_< Would be nice to have a read-out instead of having to get my hands dirty and manually read the pressure.

Hey, can someone Paypal me 11,000 bucks? My bud is selling is 93 RX-7, which is equal parts reliably streetable (not a commont FD trait) and wonderfully track prepared.

So tempting...

Eleven grand for a 14 year old RX-7? Does it come with a whore, or something?

I went to the Mazda/Dodge dealer and they didn't have any RX-8's.

The did, however, have 5 Vipers. :P

Hah, that'd be pretty awesome. Some day I wanna buy an old Volvo like the '87 240 GL I had before and drop a V8 into it :)

I'd rather have a 20b 3 rotor swap than an LS swap, although I don't know how streetable those are.

The LS1 is lighter and makes more power and is more reliable for much less money. It also responds to well to moderate mods without blowing itself to shreds.

The only thing I think the Rotories do better is the initial off the line low end torque, and its insane redline.

I will give you cheaper, easier, and more reliable.

I've been trying to find which is lighter, and it looks like the 20b is 270lbs bare and 390 dressed, and the LS1 and 2 are both about 500lbs dressed. I'm just grabbing internet numbers so I don't know what's right.

They will both build to 1000+ hp.

If I'm doing it, paying for it, and/or living with it, LS. Independent of cost, I want a 20b. It is just cooler, and sounds like the fires of hades rolling down the street. LS RX7s are awesome, but it's also a little bit sad that there's no more rotary inside.

20b Potential power outputs:
*The standard power output of a 20B turbo is 280HP.
*With turbos removed (naturally aspirated), these engines produce 250hp stock, 320hp if ported.
*Apparently with the mere addition of a boost controller the power jumps to around 400HP.
*Rod Millen's Pike's Peak race car made about 500HP with a nearly stock engine.
*Japanese modifiers get about 700HP without too much trouble (I suspect this would be at a level where some engine porting and severe turbos would be required).
*Racing beat's Bonneville racer makes 900+ hp with a triple turbo peripheral port 13G
*The above figures were all mid-late 1990s. In 2002 some drag racers are claiming 1200hp.
