Dunno how I did it though, attacked only the back until ~stg 9, started attacking the front, but it didn't develop much, so I could kill the boss pretty easily everytime by just diving head-in and destroying the joints... I was killed by the blue orbs later on though, just couldn't dodge them anymore.
Hey i just found this forum, and this topic from the wikipedia entry on warning forever. For a couple of years i´ve been playing on and off to this game. Lately I found a way to reach REALLY high levels but with relatively no boss growth pass a certain point.
The thing is that it doesn't give much points. The idea is to attack only the two front pieces of the pure heart, leaving the back pieces intact (even the four guns on them). Then you shoot at the center part until it explodes. If you keep leaving the back parts intact, the front part will stop growing eventually although all of the guns types will keep improving.
Today i reached the level 30 but only got 25.859.400 points. The highest score i've had was 35.581.800 at level 24 (witch i think leaves me at the seventh place of your list).
